I am a beginner, so I am going to write what I think will be helpful to other beginners. First of all, this book is full 30 of gorgeous designs printed on only one side of nice quality paper. The paper is perforated, and makes it easy to tear out the pages cleanly. The first thing I learned was to keep the original, and make copies to color in case you screw one up! :) No harm done, though, I was able to salvage my original anyway. I had a brand new ream of card stock, and found this works nicely to copy on to. Second, I started off using a set of 50 Crayola Supertips Washable Markers because that's what I already had on hand. While these have a fairly fine tip, it is not fine enough for this type of coloring, plus water based markers show the stroke marks too much for my taste. Since I was unable to afford the alcohol based makers another reviewer recommended, I have decided to try my hand with colored pencils. I perused the reviews, and ordered a set of 50 by Prang that someone had commented were pretty good, and only cost me $11.00 plus about another $7.00 for the highest rated manual pencil sharpener. ( I don't have these yet ) I have also gone to my local Walmart to invest in some inexpensive watercolors, a set of paint brushes, and some watercolor paper to see how these designs may come out in that medium. Not having my new pencils didn't slow me down, since I can make copies, I just colored with markers first enjoying it even with the stroke marks and challenge of "too fat" markers. Over all, the book is excellent! There are only a couple of designs I don't care for. I can see myself doing some of these at least 2-3 times!

I really like this coloring book over all. The designs are all a similar theme but different enough to keep interest. There are some with very small details, while others have bolder designs. I also love the paper quality, the ease of removing pages, and the fact that the designs are printed on only one side. My only dislike are the pages featuring human faces in the designs. I prefer more abstract designs and find that the faces, while well-drawn and appropriate for the book, detract from the rest of the design on the page.

I've only been coloring for a couple of months. Yet I now own over fifteen books and have colored over sixty pictures. At this stage of my life, this has become an amazing hobby, and a new world of finding fantastic colors to go with great pictures like the ones in this book.

I rated this four stars because the color can bleed through on pages and the paper is not too thick. I rate it 5 stars for the designs and their variety. The pages are laid out nicely for framing and the images are only on one side of the page. It is a good value for the cost. I recommend removing the pages before coloring so you don't have to worry about bleed through. I would not recommend this for watercolor pencils as the paper is not that thick, but it works well for colored pencils. I would recommend a student/artist grade pencil or higher to get a good effect.In the first picture I started out with inexpensive no name pencils I purchased at a big box store and then used Gallery pencils (these seem to be branded many names). The effect created a waxy build up (see picture with girl in the middle) and the blending was not great. I switched to the Marco Raffine colored pencils, which are great for my purposes. They are vibrant, lay down great color and blend well (see picture with the butterfly). I am still working on the butterfly, but you can see the bleed through on the back of the page in front.If you want to try out coloring Mehdi designs, but not sure you want to commit to this hobby, this is a great book to get started with.

I love this coloring book, definitely on my favorites list. There's a variety of mehndi designs to color -- exotic birds (peacocks), paisley prints, butterflies and lovely florals. Each design is printed on one side -- on perforated paper. Which makes it so much easier to tear the pages out. I like the thickness of the paper. My brush pens work well on them. A fun way to relax and unwind.Highly recommend.

I have gotten quite a few of the Creative Haven coloring books... they are great... The pages are perforated, one-sided, and fairly thick. Also every picture has a border so you don't have to color off the edge of the page.The lines in this book are smooth and the detail is perfect for gel pens or fairly narrow tipped markers. Pencils would work easily, too.Even more than most of the mandala books I have gotten, this one has a mixture of pictures with more detail, and ones with wider open spaces, too. I prefer the more detail, but my mom ran away with all the ones with wider spaces since her eyes are not great and she likes the less detail. This is a good mix.

I am very happy with this purchase. There are plenty if designs to choose from, ranging from very intricate to not so intricate, basic geometric and floral designs to some with human faces or peacocks or even butterflies. Overall, the quality is great, crisp clean lines with single sided, good quality paper. I like using permanent markers to color these pages, but found myself having to photocopy the pages beforehand because I enjoy coloring the same designs over and over again. I love this book!

I would have liked fewer pics of birds and faces. The design pages are great. There are intricate pages and some with larger areas/fewer details. Overall I enjoyed this book and have spent HOURS coloring it.These were done with Pentel, later I switched to Crayola for the larger areas on other pages. Honestly, the cheap markers are fine.

While giving a glowing review of a "how to dissect a sheep brain" book is strange, I still must give this book high marks because it meets the criteria for a good neurodissection guide. First, it's inexpensive - good for something that you might not want to put in your bookshelf after using it. Second, it's not hardcover and is wide. Okay, you're wondering what I am getting at... When you want a book to stay open so that you can look at it while holding a scalpel in one hand and have your other hand covered with...fluids... you don't want a book that flips itself shut when you aren't holding it. Also, it's easy to photocopy, given that it is in black and white and 8.5x11. Third, it has good content and doesn't try to overdo it. Dissecting a sheep brain is a gateway dissection - thus a book doesn't need to be an expensive tome on neurobiology. These authors also have a "photographic series" guide that helps with the dissection an dincludes bonus pages on other cranial structures, e.g., eyes.

Received book in about a week in perfect condition. The book itself has very clear images and labels as well as descriptions that are easy to understand.

I was very surprised when I received this book in the mail. For the reasonable price that I paid, I expected a thin, cheap workbook. However, it is lengthy and the cover of the book is a velvet texture--a great hand feel. I purchased this for my fifth grader to work on intermittently as a supplement to his homeschool curricula. The worksheets are very accessible and I appreciate the "extras" such as etymology etc. I personally would love to see an integration into the vocabulary builder app in which one could input the completed lesson numbers and build a customized quiz to aid in retention. Either way, great product to supplement a fantastic web/app presence and study tool. It is a fun supplement for our family.

Love this. It's not just a learning tool, but it engages the mind when you want some downtime from whatever has you so stressed out. It makes you focus and think on one thing... enhancing your vocabulary so you can at least better understand how to communicate more effectively with others.

I hate to give this a less than optimal review as it clearly is a book full of valuable vocabulary- I’m just not a fan of the lay out. I’ve used picture vocabulary books in the past and will continue with that path. I felt there were too many words crammed on each page, not enough examples for each word (and half of them don’t have any used in an example) and the exercises are very short and don’t really allow you to really practice the words. I find it hard to remember all the words on one page with little practice before your on to the next page. It’s not the books fault- I’d say I’m a visual leaner and learn/REMEMBER new words best with images versus just word explanations. Also I wasn’t a fan of the pronounciation guide provided- I found myself looking up online how to pronounce certain words which defeats the purpose.

This is a pretty useful vocabulary-building workbook. I think this would be helpful for any students who are taking the SAT or ACT as a prep for some words they might encounter. Each page has about 3 or 4 vocabulary words with the definition and an example of it used in a sentence, followed by a short activity (fill in, matching, etc). The words are categorized by various themes (words you might find in science, for instance). I just wish the activities were a bit longer, and that is probably my only beef with the book. Pretty solid book, though, especially if you want to learn challenging words and improve your vocabulary.

Excellent book. I hope there will be intermediate and advanced books coming soon.

this book is excellent, I purchase it on my kindle and fell in love with it. so I purchase an hard copy for a friend in another country. I am sure he will love this book, I already started some of the exercise in the book.

It's an enjoyable story and one of the classic cyberpunk novels, worth a read if interested. I don't want to spoil anything, it's not for everyone but there's more than a few gems to be gleamed from this.

He turns off machines, that's his job. They are dangerous machines, androids, but he is basically turning off machines. But he realizes that there is little difference between the machines and the people he knows. So why MUST the machines be turned off?This is a moral dilemma for Decker and he cannot untwist his increasing sympathy for the androids he is hunting from his sense of duty to the force and his wife.It is very sad and very depressing especially when you are clearly presented with androids who are not sympathetic, do not care, except about their own survival, and can only imitate emotion, not really feel. In the end Decker is crippled by his murder of the last of the androids. He will no longer hunt them, can no longer kill them.Blade Runner hinted at this moral dilemma but spectacle triumphed over substance and all we have left of it is Decker's moves to save the woman/android he has come to love. That, and the magnificent monologue of Rutger Hauer on the roof of the Bradbury Building. Stunning performance. That recollection of his life makes him human, no different then other humans but then, it's time to die. Love, love, love that scene.

Philip K. Dick's novel surpasses the Ridley Scott's cult classic on many levels. The novel contains some white-knuckled suspense sequences, and it has predicaments and situations that are far more provocative than the film. It seems difficult to believe that Scott and his writers didn't leave it alone instead of trying to improve it. The book deals with what it means to be human, and principally this is empathy. Our bounty hunting San Francisco Policeman wants to buy a live animal rather than keep a computerized sheep that mysteriously malfunctions. In the post-apocalyptic San Francisco, humans all strive to have some kind of animal. These humans live in the aftermath of a nuclear war referred to as "World War Terminus" that has eliminated many animals. As it turns out, our hero is a second-string sort of bounty hunter who discovers that the number one bounty hunter has been wounded by a Nexus-6 model android, and he has the chance 'to retire' these androids. The Rick Deckerd character in the novel has a wife and his adventures against the androids are much more suspenseful. One of the best scenes occurs when he is arrested after trying to test an opera singer and is taken into custody at an alternative San Francisco Police Headquarters. If you love the film, but you haven't read the novel, you may change your mind after you read all the missed opportunities that Scott and company passed up when they adapted the novel.

This kind of novel defies understanding. I could tell there was enough in here to leave revelations after several readings, despite its slim size, but my one read through yielded enough for a satisfying experience. Empathy is an obvious theme. The novel asks us what deserves our empathy, and twists that in surprising ways. Once we start to see the androids as something akin to human, PKD twists our legs off. Its an interesting juxtaposition, and made for a fascinating scene.My favorite quality of this novel is how pkd shifted the world and examined the cultural impact of it. After WWT, live animals became scarce leading to a market of life like robotic animals. Actual animals became pricey commodities and a symbol of status. Our hero of the novel desires a living animal, and he obsesses over it throughout to an almost comical degree. This is where the title comes in, he owns an electric sheep and wonders if the androids have their own humanlike desires.A great read, i see why PKD is a legend. His imagination is astounding and breaks all the rules without breaking a sweat. Will read more of his work including this novel again. You should too.

Seeing as this novel is considered a seminal work in the science fiction genre, I was expecting a lot from this piece of writing.I found the central theme of the novel quite profound and it caused me to consider deeply just what the difference between genuine and counterfeit are, and whether such difference even matters.Also, I deeply enjoyed the complexity of the characters as there were several moments in the novel where their motives were not easily predictable.Furthermore, the book had several tense moments when the detective was attempting to ascertain whether one of his targets was an android or not. I was quite surprised by how tense I felt and this is a testament to the quality of the writing.The end of the book is a fair bit sombre but it feels congruous with the general tone of the book, I was quite satisfied with the end of the novel.This is a classic example of the science fiction genre and a great read, a real must read!

What a surprise!If you've seen the 1982 Blade Runner movie, you already know Deckard is a bounty hunter....works for law enforcement....and has a license to kill rogue androids aka replicants.DO ANDROIDS DREAM OF ELECTRIC SHEEP was the inspiration for the old movie as well as Blade Runner 2049 in theatre's now and is the same in some respects, but without the intensity and violence. It kind of has a strange calmness to it....almost like you've taken a mood enhancer, and there's a whole other plot going on. Very bizarre.I don't want to be a "chicken-head" and give anything away so I'll just say....times are bleak, desperate and totally weird after W.W.T. (World War Terminus) with people trying to survive on a contaminated earth....animals are a rare commodity....and most....those that passed the test have defected to Mars.Definitely MORE thought provoking than the movie....Definitely NOT the action-packed thriller with brutal fights between bounty hunter and a highly-intelligent & dangerous species of replicant."You shall kill only the killers."
